FAMILY PORTRAITS

Real, intentional memories.

Family photos today will be treasures 20 years from now so you can remember and relive the love you shared, the silly times, and the happiness of being together as a family.

This special kind of family memory-making is for the kid inside you, your kids sitting in your lap, your kids about to leave home and start their own life...
Every day you and your children will see your beautiful portraits on your walls and know they come from a family full of love.

Welcome to Lincoln Photography.

I am so glad you’re here.

For session FAQs, Baby’s First Year of Milestones packages and First Birthday Cake Portraits, see below.

The Heirlooms

Your portrait session is more than just digital files - it’s the story of who you are right now, and memories to treasure and relive for decades.

It’s my pleasure to provide you with an online gallery of images for safekeeping, but that should not be used to replace reliving your memories.

My specialty is creating portraits of your precious memories, and making sure you get to enjoy them every day. That means creating beautiful art pieces of those portraits for your walls.

Together we’ll create a beautiful print collection just for you, one that you’ll treasure and display for years to come.

We ship prints everywhere.
It’s simple: choose your print deliverables, and once they show up at your door, all you have to do is hang them!

I offer a wide variety of gorgeous, museum archival-quailty products and heirlooms, including beautifully crafted wood frames, fine art prints, gallery canvas wraps, and more.

Send me an email for more information.

NEWBORN MILESTONES!
YOUR BABY'S FIRST YEAR

Grow With Me!
is an exclusive portrait series designed to document your child’s first year of life. Each session is scheduled during times when your baby is experiencing something new - giggles and a smile with his personality starting to shine through, her first time sitting up and experiencing the world - and new toys! - differently from laying down, first steps…the list goes on!

Maternity: best held when you’re at 32-34 weeks (late 8 months) so you’re most comfortable, and your belly is nice and round.

Newborn: your baby’s first 12 days of life, he or she will still be sleepy, easily swaddled, nursing.

3 months: this is usually around the time when your baby’s personality will start to emerge. Silliness, surprise, laughter, and smiles are the goal here! And even if your baby is still a little more reserved at this stage, we’ll still capture fun, loving, intimate portraits.

6 months: your baby will be experiencing what life is like sitting up! This means a new way of interacting with the world, parents, siblings, even pets, and playing with toys he/she wasn’t able to laying down.

9 months: babies are usually learning to pull themselves up, their first time standing and actively crawling around to explore.

One year: we’ll celebrate your baby’s first year of life with a fun-filled portrait session or a cake smash session!

FAQs

What happens after our session?
You get to sit back, relax, and wait for your photos! I’ll cull, process, polish, and upload your best images, and I’ll email you when your gallery is ready.

Then, it’s time to choose your prints! You’ll view your portraits, choose your favorites, and look at what's right for you in terms of artwork! Most of my clients want a showstopper for their wall and gifts for family along with an album for the coffee table. There is no minimum purchase, just choose what you love! Everything ships directly to you and you don’t need to worry about the ordering process. I’ll do it all for you.

How far in advance can / should we book?
Most couples book one month in advance. I often have last-minute afternoon availability, so please reach out!

What happens if it rains?
My rain policy is to reschedule the night before if the forecast is a 30% chance or more of rain/storms. If you’ve booked a weekend, we’ll try to reschedule for the following weekend, or really any weekday that works for you. If you’ve booked a weekday, we’ll plan for the day after, or make the call early enough in the week to hold your session a day early.

Can our grandparents come in for a photo or two?
Definitely! 40 minutes is plenty of time to include your loving grandparents in photos.

Can we get digital files?
Digital files for printing up to 5x7 are included in all sessions and are perfect for sharing online, in emails, etc. A high res digital file is included with each print order.

Should I just get a quick headshot of me at the end of the session?
We’ll definitely use up the 40 minutes taking photos of you as a family, with close-ups of the kids in action, and a variety of groupings. If you’d like to book a headshot session with me, that’s great! We should definitely do it separately though since getting really the *best* headshot possible will take some time and we want to put all our energy into taking fun family photos.

Do you offer location suggestions?
I sure do! We can definitely chat over the phone before you finalize your booking and make sure we choose a location that you’ll love.

How many locations can we go to in a session?
My 40 minute session is just enough time for one location - but we’ll get a variety of backdrops, and sitting, standing, and action shots during that time. If you’d like multiple locations and outfit changes, let’s plan for a two hour session. This can be booked via email.

What payment methods do you accept?
Zelle, Venmo, PayPal (+ fees), check, or cash (discounts offered).

What should we wear?
I have a whole pdf booklet on this topic! Once you’ve booked your session, I’ll email you all the relevant portrait preparation information you’ll need, including guidance on clothing, coordinating outfits, what photographs best, location, timing, and more!

What time of day do you hold portrait sessions?
The best time of day for good light is about an hour before sunset. In summer, that means starting at about 6:30 - 7pm,

Do you offer morning sessions?
Yes! The best morning light is at sunrise. Depending on the time of year, that’s around 6 am. Any later than that and it’s often just too bright and you might end up squinting. Sunrise also means we get to avoid crowds and have any location to ourselves!

Can we bring our dog?
Absolutely! I’d love for you to include your pup in your photos. If you’d like some family portraits without your dog, consider bringing a puppy wrangler to hold onto him in between his shots.

Can we change our outfits?
I recommend sticking to one outfit during the 45-minute session so we can focus on getting a lot of fun, relaxed, and varied photos. But if you have something quick - adding a jacket, hat, removing a sweater, etc, that works for me!

Should we bring props?
You sure can! Things like a ball for kids to kick around, rattles and noise makers for babies, your kids’s favorite book you read to him/her, are all great props to include in your portraits.

*Why do Lincoln Photography family sessions only last 40 minutes?

In the first 30-40 minutes that I’m with a family, I’m able to capture a wide variety of poses, groups, and close ups. I spend the remaining time exploring more fun and candid options before the kids lose steam.

I choose to conclude my sessions there to provide you a better set of photos with less stress. I pride myself on high levels of client satisfaction and I have found that my method produces the best results.

My family portrait sessions are compact because, almost inevitably, children under the age of 12 lose interest, get tired, cry, or complain after 40 minutes.

After 10 years of family portrait experience, I’m able to work efficiently in a short period of time, capturing a combination of (un)posed & fun, loving, tender, playful candid photos of you and your little ones, without rushing the session.
